An extremely rare and historically significant mouthpiece, this Otto Link “New York” Four Star Model – Series 24B represents one of the earliest professional-level metal alto mouthpieces produced by Otto Link in the late 1930s to early 1940s. Crafted during the company’s original New York era, these pieces are prized for their large chambers, gentle rollover baffles, and unparalleled warmth and richness of tone.

With a tip opening of 4, this example offers outstanding control and lyrical response, producing a sound that is full and resonant yet focused—perfect for players who value subtlety, depth, and the classic pre-war Link tonal palette. It excels in small-group jazz, swing, and ballad settings where a complex, dark timbre is most appreciated.

This mouthpiece is in fair condition (3/5), showing wear consistent with its age but no refacing or structural damage (someone was using a bit too much tooth, but that bite plate can be replaced if desired). The engraving remains clear, and the interior chamber and table are true to the original design. A rare opportunity to own a genuine piece of early Otto Link history that remains fully playable and musically inspiring.
