This is a beautifully preserved Buescher True Tone alto saxophone, manufactured in 1924 during one of Buescher’s most respected periods of professional production. Finished in fully intact original silver plate with a classic gold-washed bell interior, this instrument represents the high craftsmanship and tonal elegance that made Buescher one of the premier American saxophone makers of the early 20th century.

The True Tone series is known for its warm, resonant voice and excellent intonation, with a rich core that blends easily in ensemble playing while remaining expressive in solo work. These horns feature Buescher’s early innovations in acoustics and keywork, resulting in a timelessly playable professional instrument. The ergonomics reflect the period, but the horn rewards the player with a uniquely colorful, characterful tone that modern student horns cannot replicate.

This example is in remarkably good condition for its century of age. The original silver plating is fully intact, showing only a light to moderate patina consistent with well-kept silver of the era. There are no significant dings or dents, and the body, toneholes, and keywork are structurally sound. Pads are used but functional, and the horn plays cleanly across the full range.

For a developing student stepping up from a rental or considering their first personally owned alto, this horn offers real professional quality at a cost far below that of a new modern student-level instrument – and with considerably better materials and long-term durability. Silver-plated professional American saxophones of this period remain one of the most undervalued segments of the market, making this an exceptional value.
