WRM00005

A vintage Wolfe Tayne No. 6 metal mouthpiece for tenor saxophone, likely dating from the 1960s or 1970s. Wolfe Tayne was the professional name of saxophonist and mouthpiece designer Wolfe Taninbaum, who later founded Bari Woodwinds and became known for his mouthpiece designs and precision facing work.

This streamlined metal mouthpiece features a rollover-style baffle and compact chamber designed to produce a centered, projecting sound with clarity and edge. The No. 6 facing corresponds to a nominal tip opening of approximately .089 inches, although the opening of this particular mouthpiece has not been independently measured.

The mouthpiece remains in good used condition with plating wear, discoloration, scratches, and tarnishing consistent with age. The black bite plate is intact and shows ordinary playing wear. Please review the photographs for complete condition details.

Mouthpiece only; no ligature or cap included.
