WRM00011

A vintage C.G. Conn Standard Steelay No. 5 mouthpiece for alto saxophone, made in the USA from Conn’s proprietary Steelay hard-rubber compound. Produced during Conn’s mid-century period, the Standard Steelay was designed with a large, full chamber and throat to complement vintage Conn saxophones while producing a robust, warm tone.

The No. 5 facing is a relatively moderate alto opening suitable for classical, concert-band, and traditional playing. Comparable examples generally measure approximately .060–.065 inches, although this mouthpiece has not been independently measured.

This example shows substantial surface oxidation, discoloration, scratches, and ordinary wear consistent with age and use. The original Conn Standard Steelay markings are faint but remain visible. Please examine the photographs for complete condition details.

Mouthpiece only; no ligature or cap included.
