A vintage Brilhart Ebolin 3 alto saxophone mouthpiece in used condition. Produced during the golden age of Brilhart mouthpiece manufacturing, Ebolin models remain highly sought after for their warm, centered tone, easy response, and classic American jazz sound.
This example features the original black hard rubber Ebolin construction and is marked 3. The mouthpiece shows honest signs of vintage use, including scratches, discoloration, oxidation, and general cosmetic wear consistent with age. The original Brilhart script engraving and logo remain visible.
The Ebolin series earned a reputation for producing a rich, focused tone with excellent projection and flexibility. Compared to later production mouthpieces, vintage Ebolins are often prized for their consistency and characteristic warmth, making them popular among jazz, big band, and traditional players.
A facing size 3 is considered a relatively close tip opening by modern standards, making it particularly well suited for players who prefer an efficient setup, strong control, and easy response throughout the instrument’s range.
