Vintage Brilhart Carlsbad Ebolin 4* Baritone Saxophone Mouthpiece – Serial 112817
$275.00
In stock
This vintage Brilhart Ebolin baritone saxophone mouthpiece dates from the desirable Carlsbad, California production period of approximately 1954–1966. Its slanted Brilhart logo, “Ebolin” shank marking, white bite plate, lack of a location stamp, and small serial-number type are characteristic of Carlsbad-era production. The serial number appears to read 112817.
The 4* facing is a moderately closed vintage opening that should offer an easy, efficient response with good tonal control. Ebolin mouthpieces are known for a warm, full-bodied sound with a clear center and enough edge for ensemble playing. The relatively low baffle and generous chamber favor a rich traditional baritone voice rather than the highly amplified brightness of many modern jazz mouthpieces.
This example is in good vintage condition, showing normal scratches, scuffs, and cosmetic wear from use. The tip and rails appear intact, with no obvious chips, cracks, or major damage visible. A large protective patch currently covers the original white bite plate, so the condition beneath it has not been verified. No ligature or cap is included; the pictured Wind & Reed storage pouch is included.
