$400.00

Produced approximately in the late 1990s to early 2010s, this Peter Ponzol M1 metal tenor saxophone mouthpiece comes from the era when Ponzol’s brass and stainless models had become highly respected among serious jazz and commercial players. Peter Ponzol began producing his mouthpieces in the mid-1980s, and the M1 became one of his signature tenor designs, prized for combining projection, warmth, and fast response.
Known for delivering a rare balance of body and edge, the M1 sits in an ideal middle ground between traditional vintage-inspired pieces and brighter contemporary high-baffle designs. With its .110 tip opening, this example offers a large, flexible setup capable of producing everything from warm subtone passages to commanding high-energy lead playing.
Tonally, the M1 delivers a big, fat core with strong projection, offering more presence and punch than a traditional Otto Link while remaining fuller and less aggressive than many brighter modern metal mouthpieces. The result is a highly versatile tenor piece suited for jazz, fusion, funk, and commercial work.
Condition is very good plus overall, showing honest cosmetic wear consistent with normal use, including light surface marks and some expected interior finish wear. The gold plating remains largely intact, the tip and rails appear clean with no visible chips or damage, and a protective bite patch has been installed on the beak. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a sought-after Ponzol tenor piece known for its combination of power, richness, and superb playability.
