David A. Zagar 3M Ceramic Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece
$250.00
In stock
An uncommon David A. Zagar ceramic mouthpiece for alto saxophone, marked 3M. Zagar produced his mouthpieces in relatively small numbers, experimenting with dense materials and distinctive chamber designs to achieve an immediate response, strong resonance, and an even tonal character. The ceramic construction gives this piece an unusual feel and places it among Zagar’s more collectible discontinued mouthpieces.
The 3M designation indicates the original facing and chamber configuration rather than a modern standardized tip-opening measurement. Because of the relatively closed facing, this mouthpiece should appeal to players seeking control, tonal focus, and comfortable resistance. The actual tip opening has not been independently measured.
This example is in good used condition, with bite marks, scratches, surface discoloration, and general cosmetic wear. The tip, rails, and ceramic body appear intact, without an obvious crack or major chip. It has not been professionally measured or play-tested. Includes a Wind & Reed storage pouch; no ligature or cap.
